Cave Survey project, as well as for any scientific trips, has
been established. Iif you want to

04 Aug 2004 - The Last Max Fundraiser
or The Worlds Largest Cave Dig. Funds are needed to pay
off the excavation costs on the dig and do reclamation at the
site. Please
help us finish the job and let's go caving (Finally). Help
build the ladder, see the fund raising information.
10 Jun 2004 - The ultimate plan for the
new entrance to Maxwelton Sink Cave involves the installation
of a ladder in the culvert and an air-lock at the top. These
items have offered an opportunity for contributors to sponsor
a part of this project, and get some recognition for your kind
donation. Here's how it goes. The ladder will have 60 rungs
on it. 58 of the rungs can be sponsored for a donation of $100
per rung, and of course there is no limit on how many you can
sponsor. The final two rungs (the very top rung and the very
bottom rung) symbolize the first step and the last step of this
enormous endeavor, and are available for sponsorship of $250
or greater. Donors contributing $250 or greater will be labeled
as "major contributors" to
the project. Even though there are only two rungs that are a
part of this major contributor level, we will certainly welcome
more than just two donors to take part, and all will recieve
recognition as major contributors. There is also an air-lock
hatch that will be placed at the top of the culvert, which can
be sponsored for a $500 donation. All ladder, hatch, and major
contributors will be recognized by their names being engraved
on the top of the air-lock hatch under their appropriate sponsorship
level for all visitors to the cave to see for years to come.

25 Feb 2004 - The Maxwelton Sink Cave
Dig is progressing along very well. Weather has made it tough
to
work,
but the crew
has been working hard to produce a safe and responsible entrance.
As of mid-February, we are working to prepare the new entrance
for the culvert pipe that will become the permanent entrance.
Unfortunately, this is very weather dependent, and that will
dictate how quickly this phase of the project progresses. This
project is in need of monetary assistance. This is surely going
to be re-established as a West Virginia classic, and because
of this, we want to continue to do this project right. If you
are able to help by sending a donation, please do so and write
'Maxwelton" in the memo line. Stay tuned for more details.
30 Sep 2003 - The Maxwelton Sink Cave
Dig will be continuing from October 23 through November 2, 2003.
Every
day
may not be
a work day, and there may or may not be any digging for large
groups of people to take part in. We'll just have to see as the
dig develops. The goal is that the dig will be complete by early
November, and the cave will hopefully be open once again, and
for good. For more information on the dig, please contact Jeff
Bray, or watch this space!
